Stagecoach Gifts and Coffee has been established with me since 2024. We are located in Haines, Oregon on old highway 30. What started as an opportunity to help a friend, quickly became my motivation to bring joy to the community and do my best to help others. Our store gives back directly to the community—all of the items in the store are made or collected from 35 different families. The bakery and coffee shop help us keep the lights on and afford to be open and create a happy place for the community.

We continue to grow and add events, such as dinner and game night, craft nights, and coffee chatter where people gather and enjoy each other’s company, meet new people, share stories, heal wounds, and help each other overcome obstacles they may be facing. It is our mission to personally greet each and every customer and make them feel welcome.

We have such a wide variety of items in the store, you could find a gift for just about anyone on your list. Enjoy a delicious treat and cup of coffee or lotus. Even our coffee beans are made in Oregon. Everything we do here at Stagecoach is focused to brighten someone’s day.

Deana Tarantino

Hey there, I am Deana, business owner, wife, autism mom, and strong-willed woman with the motivation to bring people together, spread joy, and give back to my community. Stagecoach Gifts & Coffee is more than just your average coffee or gift shop, let me explain why.

In 2008, my dad was tragically killed on his motorcycle. I was only 15 at the time. I remember being the ugliest, most angry version of myself for about the next 5 years or so. When I was 18, I was in an abusive relationship and still very toxic in my mind. I ended up pregnant and then my mom and I moved to Washington where I continued to allow my depression to pull me under. I had become addicted to drugs and ended up in rehab.

That rock bottom was a wakeup call for me and I straightened out my life and ended up going to cosmetology school. I managed a salon for a few years and later went to do full service color closer to home. I met my (now) husband CJ in 2017 and we were married in 2018. We bought our first home together and life carried on. School years were hard and having a child with autism came with its own challenges. We were so unhappy with our current school district, we considered going to online school.

Then, in 2023 tragedy struck again when my brother overdosed and died on Easter Sunday. When we came back to Baker in June of 2023, I felt called to come home. I did not want to leave. On the drop of a dime, we got our house ready to sell and packed up and moved. In 2 months we had found a house and moved back to Baker and began our next chapter.

The school year started off rough for our daughter and I ended up not being able to keep my full time job. That is when a close family friend, who owns the building my wonderful store is housed in, reached out to me and asked me if I would be interested in taking over the store. I worked with her for a couple of months to really get the hang of things and it sort of became a haven for myself and my daughter.

In January of 2024, I officially became the new owner. When I started, we had only 2 vendors who still had items in the store. In the last year, we have grown to over 35 local vendors! We have added a small bakery section and a coffee shop which has brought so much joy to the community. With all the tragedy in my life, I decided we needed to find more joy and created events such as monthly craft events where people came and made fun projects, ate snacks, and mingled with new people. We have now started game night with dinners, low cost, just to get people out of their homes and looking forward to something fun.

I allow people to host groups, like our coffee chatter where they talk about topics and get to know each other. We have a couple of groups of people who share unfortunate grief of a spouse, a child, a parent, etc. and these people can just get together, have coffee and relate to one another. This store has become my happy place, along with quite a few regulars who have found joy in our time together.

We are way more than your average gift shop. Walking in here, we hope every single person feels welcomed and loved, and we pour love into all of our baking as well. I started this with a very low income, and it has grown into so much more than I could have ever imagined.
